Unrestored Original

For your consideration, we are offering this original
unrestored "top-of-the-line" Cadillac Model
58M-60 Hard Top Sedan from 1958 which was one of
only 12,900 produced. This 19' "land yacht" was
reportedly purchased new by Leon Leonwood Bean, famous
clothier and founder of LL Bean in Maine. While
we have no written documentation of this fact, we
checked with our contacts in New England and the
man who had it through the years purchased it from
a dealer who was selling it for the Bean family as
Mr. LL was getting too old to drive.
What we do know is that this car is unrestored with
original Versailles Green & Alpine White paint
which is tired, all original EZ-I Soft Ray tinted
glass with a few bull's eye chips in the windshield,
and the original chrome & trim is mostly really
good except the right rear bumper end has rust probably
from the exhaust pipe. It runs and drives great,
transmission pulls and shifts good, 365 ci V-8 motor
is smooth and quiet, and the brakes stop this monster
good. Power windows and vent windows all work
good except the passenger vent, and the 6-way power
seat works also. Auto headlight dimmer works
as do all of the rest of the gauges except, of course,
the clock. AM/Signal Seeking radio works as
it should but the power antenna does not. It
has very, very nice original interior, door panels,
dash, and headliner. As was vogue in the day,
there are 3 ash trays and 3 cigarette lighters, all
in easy reach of any passenger. The original spare
tire and mat are still in the trunk compartment. The
tires on the ground are Coker Classic wide whitewalls. The
body has a nick or scratch here or there, nothing
bad, OK for driver-quality or survivor showing. This
car listed for $6,763 in 1958, which was equal to
THREE CHEVROLETS! Very luxurious.....
Rust situation: As this is a car that was
a car from the Northeast, we checked it over pretty
good for rust. We found as follows: A
little rust in the corners of the doors and jambs,
not terrible, but it is there. Surface rust
in the floorboards could be cleaned up easily. We
found a little rust in the rear wheel wells. There
is no rust in the massive frame and we found nothing
in need of immediate attention. Quite obviously
garage-kept and used very little during the winters
(Only 1,500 miles per year).
This wonderful unrestored piece of history can be
yours for $24,900.
